I knew that day I would go.

I would get in my car and leave everything that chained me behind.

I would hear the engine.

I would listen to my tires scream freedom. I would speed 0-60 and beyond to reach the horizon. At
least, for a short while.

To reach something outside of what I knew.

Outside of my house, my block, my neighborhood, my city.

Beyond choices (good or bad), beyond the vices I’ve had, I would go.

And should I find what I’m searching for behind the curtain of my reality, just past the horizon, dusk
behind me, the road and night ahead

I knew, come morning, I would again return home, a new man. At least, for a short while.
